James, his wife Karen (married 34 years) have been working with the Central Union Church of Christ in Monroe, North Carolina since 2004. Previously, he preached for churches in North Carolina and Tennessee. They are blessed to have as children David (32), Jaime (30), Andrew (22) and Katie (18).
Pharr is a graduate of the Southeastern School of Biblical Studies. Prior to that time he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Freed-Hardeman University and Limestone College.
He conducts a number of gospel meetings each year and speaks at various lectureships. He has been the host of a radio talk show. He has been involved with Christian youth camps, serving as a board member for the Palmetto Bible Camp in South Carolina and serving as a board member for Teenage Christian Camp in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Jim has the proud distinction of having a father (David, Rock Hill, SC) and a son (David James, Chattanooga, TN) who preach the gospel. He is also blessed with six wonderful grandchildren.
